Maria Swann, President & Founder, Granny’s House Foundation
Maria Swann is the President and Founder of Granny’s House Foundation, a nonprofit organization born from her deep passion for serving others and creating safe spaces for individuals and families in need. From a very young age, Maria developed a heart for people by witnessing the extraordinary compassion of her grandmother, whose home served as a refuge for countless individuals. While raising eight children and helping care for 23 grandchildren, Maria’s grandmother also opened her doors to anyone in need, creating a safe haven filled with love, support, and hope.
Growing up, Maria experienced firsthand the impact of domestic violence and saw friends in her community run away from unsafe situations with nowhere to turn. Witnessing the lack of resources available to vulnerable individuals left a lasting impression on her and ignited a lifelong desire to help others overcome hardship.
These experiences inspired Maria to pursue a career as a nurse and caregiver, where her passion for serving people continued to grow. Determined to transform painful memories into purpose, she dedicated herself to providing compassionate care, support, and advocacy for those facing difficult circumstances. Through her professional experience and personal journey, Maria gained valuable insight into the critical need for accessible resources, safe environments, and community support systems.
Driven by a calling to make a meaningful difference, Maria founded Granny’s House Foundation to extend the same compassion, care, and refuge that her grandmother provided to so many. Her vision is for the organization to serve as a powerful catalyst for positive change by connecting individuals and families with the resources, support, and opportunities they need to heal, grow, and thrive.
Today, Maria remains committed to fulfilling her purpose by empowering others, strengthening communities, and ensuring that no one has to face life's challenges alone.
